Health and Safety

To stay healthy and safe in Uganda with GTD Afrika Tours Limited, you should only drink treated, bottled, or boiled water and avoid eating unwashed or unpeeled fresh fruits.

If you eat street food, make sure you eat it from a busy, clean place with a high turnover of food to ensure it’s fresh, and watch to ensure the food is well cooked.

Uganda has a high risk of malaria, so you should take antimalarial medication and avoid mosquito bites by sleeping under a mosquito net, wearing long trousers and shirts in the early morning and evening hours, and using repellent on your skin and clothes.

There is also a risk of contracting bilharzia, a parasitic disease transmitted by freshwater snails. Please avoid wading or swimming in any freshwater. You can swim in hotel swimming pools as they are very safe.

Uganda has both public and private health facilities. Public health facilities may lack some medical equipment, staff, and medications. For medical emergencies, you can visit a private clinic or hospital where you will be able to pay for your treatment.

Your health and happiness are our priority.
